There are actually other ways to use maps that have little to do with their original purpose. Many involve some crafting skills and all involve using the imagination to unlock new uses for maps.

Home decor is a great place to start. Instead of wallpaper, homeowners can use maps to cover walls, ceilings, and doors. This works best with larger sized maps, to cut down on the time and work involved. Smaller maps can be used to cover objects, such as lampshades , tabletops, even chairs and bookcases. More imaginative uses in this category include covering ceiling fan blades, window shades, and headboards.

Another great use forcity maps is small craft projects for kids. These make great after school activities or fun for a snow day. Kids can use maps as origami paper or to make book or notebook covers. They can make a set of placemats out of old maps or take one map and cut it up into a puzzle for their friends to solve. The best activity may be simply giving kids a bunch of maps and some craft supplies and letting them do whatever they can imagine.

Shuffleboard is a game with similarities to the Scottish sport of curling, ice-hockey and croquet. It has many variations both indoors and outdoors, which involves playing areas of different lengths and different rules. The version played on a table is called table shuffleboard , or sometimes it’s called shufflepuck in the pub vernacular.

Table shuffleboard is played on a 22 foot long finely polished wood table, with weighted hand-size pucks that are pushed along the icy smooth surface of the boards. The object of the game is to score points by making the puck stop in a scoring area located at the opposite end. There are different rules for tournament games compared to team or two player’s games. The game is relaxing and is very popular with the pub scene crowd.

The skill required to play table shuffleboard is one of controlling the puck to a very fine degree. The game can have some cut-throat aspects about it due to an opponent’s puck knocking the other player’s puck off the board or away from the scoring area. Professional players have the ability to make their pucks do whatever they want and can produce some very impressive trick shots.

Shuffleboard is played in taverns and pubs all throughout America and the world. Many people own their own shuffleboard tables so they can play at home and entertain guests. The game’s beauty is not only in its simplicity, but in its construction as well.
