Only a few more months here in Ohio and I am done with my consulting job. It has been rewarding doing the job both financially and career wise. I have been here three years now and it is time to move on. I miss being home in Hartford, CT. I am booking a room at Hartford hotels for next weekend so I can go home and look for somewhere to live once I move back.
I am really happy I was able to manage landing my next job in Connecticut and particularly pleased it is in Hartford. I have been away from home long enough and am really getting home sick, as the time gets closer.
I love Hartford because it has so much history going back long before European settlers inhabited the area. Some of the earliest Europeans in the area set up fur trading posts as early as 1614. Originally the settlement established there was named Newtown but was changed to Hartford in 1637. Hartford was incorporated and was named the states capitol in late 1700’s.
In the older areas remaining examples of colonial architecture still remain; adjacent streets are lined with red brick row houses and brown stones from the early Victorian era.
Over the years Hartford has attracted a number of large insurance firms giving the city the nickname the Insurance City and having a dramatic effect on the skyline as one firm builds a structure to out do another.
Hartford is situated in the beautiful green rolling hills of central Connecticut and the easy access to New York City and Boston from Hartford is one of the things I love the most about living there. Another side benefit to Hartford living there are some great deals on flights out of Hartford as the Hartford airport competes with the airports serving Boston and New York for more passengers.
Hartford is home, I grew up in the Connecticut countryside, went to college there and only for the past three years here in Ohio have I lived anywhere else.
