I don’t make to much money and what I do make, I saved enough to book one of the Luxury Hotels Johannesburg has, and managed to find some very inexpensive places to eat during my 2 week stay in this amazing city of Johannesburg. I also managed to find places with diverse menus.
My first place to visit and enjoy was The Guild Hall. I found it on the corner of Market and Harrison street. I found the pricing very reasonable and the food was really very scrumptious. I’ve experienced a lot in my life, but this place, The GuildHall seems to have seem way much more than me. You’d have to check it out for yourself to know what I am talking about. I really appreciated the wood burning ovens which they use for the pizzas, pizzas loaded with toppings. Perfect Pizza.
My second place was more for my nightlife, The GoGo Bar. I found it in Newtown. A nice ‘liquid’ menu which made my night last longer cause I didn’t have to spend much on drinks and I still felt cool and with the in crowd. So, for the next morning, or should I say, very late morning, I checked out The Zoo Lake Bowling Club http://sapra.org.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=14. I got a killer deal on prego roll and chips. The prego roll is this brown steak in a prego roll and served with some really greasy chips with a hot chilli sauce. This really put the fire into my morning. I needed some beer to chase away last night, and even the beer here was incredibly cheap. A real bargain at anytime, I mean, steak, chips and beer all for 10 bucks? Yeah, The Zoo Lake if definitely on the top of my list.
I managed to make it through the whole 2 weeks on a tight, tight budget with the help of these cheap, inexpensive places to eat and drink. So, next time you are in Johannesburg and on a budget like mine, check these places out, you really won’t be disappointed.
